I donated in support of this campaign.
As you probably know, YMCA Camp Carter and YMCA's across the country rely on donations to make sure that those that need the Y the most can afford access to the Y. I am reaching out to some of YMCA Camp Carter's biggest fans to ask you to invest in the YMCA's mission and help send deserving North Texas kids to camp.
One of our favorite campers this summer was a young man whose mother is a hair dresser who works at a small salon and lives primarily off of the tips she earns. She told us that during the long dry weather that we had, women typically don't get their hair cut as much since they don't have the humidity causing "frizzy" hair, Things have been financially trying for her and her family. She even considered leaving her 9 year old home all day while she worked. Fortunately, Camp Carter was able to step in a scholarship her son to Day Camp so he could be in a safe setting, eat good meals and most importantly have FUN.
I am asking if you would be willing to support families like this and pledge to send a child to camp. A donation of $225 will fully fund a week of Day Camp for a deserving child. A pledge of $1000 will allow you to join the YMCA Camp Carter Chairman's Round Table and get special recognition at Camp and at the YMCA Annual meeting.
